When should I provide the
script? It’s highly recommended
to have the script typed up, ready to go, and emailed to ryan@nipdog.net
a day or more before the shoot. This saves time on those shoots
where time is of the essence! However, you may give the prompter
operator the script early-on during the shoot set-up, but remember,
the operator will need enough time to make edits as needed and
load the script into the prompter software.
How should I deliver the
script?
Email: send to ryan@nipdog.net
Thumbdrive
CD
Hardcopy: If a digital version is not available, no worries, the
prompter operator will have the ability to manually type in the
script before the shoot starts... free of charge.
What file format should
the script be in?
Microsoft Word (.doc)
Microsoft Works
Plain Text (.txt)
Mac Pages (.pages)
**Only include the text your talent will be reading. Leave out
graphics, graphs, tables, and all other production comments.
Can edits to the script
be made during a shoot? Yes. The prompter operator is there
to make any changes or additions to the script for you or your
talent. Edits can be made on-the-fly during prompting.
Can more than one prompter
be used at once? Yes. There will be an additional charge
for each additional prompter.
How heavy is a prompter?
Nipdog’s teleprompters are very light-weight, around 13
lbs.
Are Nipdog’s prompters
bright enough for outdoor use? Yes, and the brightness
and contrast can be adjusted as needed.
When would I use a prompter
that attaches to the tri-pod? (show pic of prompter) If
the camera will be moving, such as on a dolly or jib, or needs
to do large pans to follow the talent.
When would I use a free-standing
prompter? When the camera doesn’t need to pan around
too much, or if the talent will be looking off-camera. A free-standing
prompter is quicker to set up and take down. The cameraman will
be happy not to have someone messing with his camera plates also!
How long does it take to
set up a prompter? About 15 to 20 minutes, and then whatever
time it takes to edit and load the script.
Are you willing to travel?
Definitely! Anywhere in the world.
